Ch. 21 & 22:  Electromagnetism and AC Circuits

Electromagnetism is one of the four essential forces in Physics (the others are gravity and the weak & strong nuclear forces). Hans Christian Oerstad is credited with its discovery in 1820, and Michael Faraday is generally credited with its early development. It plays an important role in modern society through electric power generation, communications, motors, generators, electric cars, military hardware, medical industry, and countless other areas.

Alternating Current (AC) is how we power society, for the most part. AC power can be 'transformed' easily to raise or lower it's voltage. New terms in discussing AC power are 'inductance', 'reactance', and 'impedance'. In this unit we learn how to design circuits using inductors, capacitors, and resistive loads.
