This is an introductory Chemistry course with a full-complement of hands-on labs. The course covers a complete high school Chemistry curriculum, from matter & atomic structure through organic and nuclear chemistry. The AP® version of the class requires additional work and lab analyses beyond the ‘regular’ class.
Textbook: All students will use BJU Chemistry, 3rd edition, ISBN 159166540x(the homework is tied to the 3rd edition, do not buy the 4th or 5th edition). Amazon link AP students will also use AP Classroom (you will receive a join code) and the Princeton Review AP Chemistry Prep book. Make sure you get the 2025 edition when it becomes available. Supplies: You will need safety glasses for all the labs. I will provide lab coats and gloves.
Supplies: You will need a scientific calculator (TI-30Xa is perfect, $10), and various types of graph paper throughout the course Printfreegraphpaper.com.
You will need access to a relatively modern computer with internet connection. A computer less than 5 years old should suffice. You will need a webcam and mike to participate in the class.
Homework: You'll be turning in your homework on Canvas. You will receive a join code.
Periodic Table - print this now and laminate it or put it in a sleeve, and always bring to class. We will use it at virtually every class session.
